We analyze information and technology ecosystems from the standpoint of actual users and collaborate closely with our clients to innovate streamlined solutions for complex challenges of managing, monitoring and presenting critical information across the country and around the world.
Founded in 1992 by a communication design professor at Carnegie Mellon University, the firm has grown out of academic and practical experience to provide a unique structure for collaboration with clients across a wide array of disciplines. Recognition of our innovative work includes user interfaces for Sun Microsystems and the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) that received National Smithsonian Computerworld Awards and were accepted into the permanent Research and Technology Collection at the National Museum of American History. Other recognition includes in-country service as design program specialists for the US Information Agency in Eastern Europe and collaboration with the US Department of State in conceptualizing and developing online tools that support collaboration between top leadership of foreign countries and the US government. Our work has been published and presented internationally.
We have developed and implemented national and international communication programs for clients that include the United Nations Development Programme, the US Institute of Peace, the US Department of State, the National Council for Science and the Environment, the African Center for Economic Development, the Inter- American Development Bank, the National Institutes of Health, National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, US Department of Health and Human Services, US Department of Education, US Department of Commerce, and the US Department of Homeland Security. We additionally collaborate with leading non-profits who understand the role of sophisticated design and technology in realizing their communication objectives. Good design is good business.
